The initial trends of 17 out of 17 municipal corporation seats have come. BJP has taken lead in 17 seats. SP-BSP and Congress have now lagged behind in all the seats. BJP has won Jhansi, Saharanpur, Shahjahanpur, Bareilly and Ayodhya seats.
BJP’s sting in civic elections
BJP continues to have a bumper lead in the civic elections in Uttar Pradesh. In many seats, the BJP is leading over the SP. BJP seems to be getting a bumper edge in Kanpur. From here BJP candidate Pramila Pandey got 35946 votes. Whereas, SP’s Vandana Bajpai got 19200 votes. Ashni Awasthi of Congress has now slipped to the third position with 13399 votes.

In addition, out of the 544 municipal council seats in Uttar Pradesh, trends for 113 seats have emerged so far, with BJP candidates leading in 54 places. The Samajwadi Party (SP) is leading in 41 seats, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in 6 seats, Congress in 5 seats, and other Chairman candidates are leading in 6 seats.
Voting has taken place for 198 chairpersons and 5,260 members of the municipal councils in the state. Voters have also cast their votes to decide the fate of 542 municipal council chairpersons and 7,104 members. In total, 162 representatives were elected without opposition, while 83,378 candidates were in the fray for 14,522 positions. Mayoral elections were held in Agra, Jhansi, Shahjahanpur, Firozabad, Saharanpur, Meerut, Lucknow, Kanpur, Ghaziabad, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Aligarh, Bareilly, Moradabad, Gorakhpur, Ayodhya, and Mathura-Vrindavan municipal corporations in Uttar Pradesh.

BJP’s defeat in Yogi’s minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi’s ward
UP cabinet minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi’s ward Mohtsimganj suffered a humiliating defeat for the BJP. In Mohtsimganj Ward No. 80 of Prayagraj Municipal Corporation, BJP candidate stood at number three, BJP councilor candidate Vijay Vaish has suffered a crushing defeat. Here independent candidate Kusum Lata Gupta won the election by getting 1674 votes. SP’s Ishrat Ali has been defeated by 385 votes, SP’s Ishrat Ali has been defeated by 1289 votes in this seat. BJP’s Vijay Vaish had to satisfy with 1275 votes only. BJP got only 150 votes at cabinet minister Nandi’s booth number 932. Minister Nandi could not make the BJP candidate win even at his booth, Minister Nandi’s outgoing mayor wife Abhilasha Gupta Nandi had also voted at the same booth, Minister Nandi’s camp was angry because Abhilasha Gupta Nandi’s ticket was cut.
