Is the social upliftment of the upper castes being deliberately ignored?

Harindra singh,Dainik India news Lucknow: The social upliftment of upper castes in India is a complex issue that has been a topic of much discussion and debate over the years. In recent years, however, there has been a growing awareness of the need for social justice and equality, and efforts have been made to uplift and empower marginalized communities, including lower castes, women, and minorities. At the same time, there has also been a recognition of the fact that some upper castes may also face social and economic challenges, and there is a need to address these issues as well.

The example that can be quoted for the discrimination made between the lower caste and Upper caste is at a similar time a Dalit girl is given a scholarship of 1 crore to promote girls child education, but this scholarship is not available for an upper-class student to pursue their education freely and without worry, just because of being from the general category.

Another example that could be quoted is when filling up for different government examinations, why there is need for reservation in marks and even with the fees, where the general or upper caste are paying higher fees and lower caste are paying marginalised and comparatively less fees, where income status is deliberately assumed as lower class considerable having less income and upper class is having more income status. The question here is one can assume that there may be marginal difference between the income status of lower and upper class but how the reservations can be made in intelligence level of a person, that lower caste can achieve comparatively very less marks for merit but general could not. This is what just for the purpose of votes?

Overall, the social upliftment of upper castes in India is a complex issue that requires a multi-faceted approach. One of the ways in which upper castes have been uplifted is through affirmative action programs, such as reservations in educational institutions and government jobs.

Most dalit bahujan intellectuals are already uplifted, rich, upper class using reservations. Whether government should put this into consideration and should come up with equal right with all the caste, as they also belong to the national society. Where egalitarian concept is the thought process of the government, but whether it exists in the society or they are just mere words?

To bring the votes from the Upper Caste and show their rights, government has introduced EWS (equally weaker section of society) scheme, where the quota is given but the irony is it remained to Brahmins and even after EWS reservation other general castes such as Rajput, Kayastha have no benefited from this scheme.

Another example that can be quoted is from April 2023, where in Shivraj Government, the EWS category teachers staged a protest because 90 percent of the EWS posts in the first round of teacher recruitment in the School Education Department were not filled. Consequently, teachers from all over the state staged a sit-in.
As per the facts and figures it is also stated that Three-four caste-specific EWS reservation is also unconstitutional. As those who were liable for this have been given reservations more than required in papers in comparison to their number of populations working in education institutions. This reservation was given without any previous or current survey or reports just for the sake of maintaining present government’s image among the vote banks.
