Dainik India News lucknow,The 9th convocation ceremony of Moeuddin Chishti University, Lucknow, was held today under the chairmanship of the Governor. Professor Shishir Sinha, Director General of the Central Institute of Plastic Engineering and Technology (CIPET), who was also the chief guest, was conferred with an honorary DLitt degree. The event was attended by several distinguished guests, including Higher Education Minister Rajni Tiwari, Vice-Chancellor Professor Narendra Bahadur Singh, and National President of the Rashtriya Sanatan Mahasangh JP Singh, among others.
During the ceremony, a total of 1431 students were awarded degrees, including 149 medals. Professor NB Singh shared that among the medal winners, 89 were female students and 43 were male students. The students received 61 gold, 45 silver, and 43 bronze medals. Additionally, 21 researchers were awarded Ph.D. degrees.
In his address, the Governor emphasized the importance of education, stating, “A degree is not just proof of success, but the beginning of your duties towards society and the nation.” The Governor praised the efforts of the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and referred to the NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) rankings. He highlighted that the current government’s efforts are rapidly advancing India’s progress in higher education. He also mentioned 12 universities in Uttar Pradesh that have achieved A++ rankings and commended the ongoing efforts to elevate Indian universities through the NIRF ranking system.
The Governor also criticized the education system for today’s children, stating that they are lacking in practical national and geographical knowledge beyond their academic subjects. He said that current governments are focusing on gathering old books while implementing the new education policy in universities, so that we can reach the pinnacle of knowledge.
The Governor further advised the students, “If your parents are sitting idle, encourage them to read books as well, because it is knowledge that will take us to the highest peaks.” He urged students to stay connected to their roots and promote their education in line with Indian culture.
In addition, the university announced the establishment of the Avadhi Research Chair for the development of the local culture and language of the Awadh region. The university also plans to introduce courses in Indian languages.
The ceremony concluded with the national anthem and a post-event banquet, attended by university officials, faculty, students, and their families in large numbers.
