Dainik india news,Aizawl, 28 September 2024: Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla, who is in Mizoram for the 21st Conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Zone III, participated in the Swachhta Abhiyan by performing Shramdaan in Aizawl. He encouraged the local community to take responsibility for cleanliness and urged participation in the “Swachhta Hi Seva” initiative.
After the Swachhta Abhiyan, Shri Birla visited Bada Bazaar in Aizawl, where he supported the “Vocal for Local” movement by purchasing a bamboo hat and other regional products. Promoting digital payments, he used UPI to complete the transaction by scanning a QR code, advocating for India’s growing digital economy.
During his 20-minute visit to the bazaar, Shri Birla engaged with local shopkeepers and artisans, purchasing local fruits and interacting with vendors. He also took photographs with residents, further connecting with the community.
Later, Shri Birla visited Falkun village and interacted with panchayat representatives, praising their development efforts and inviting them to visit Parliament House.
