CM virtually inaugurates Kisan Mela and Rural Development Exhibition organised by Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Smriti Mahotsav Samiti

Prior to 2017, the state had no power; today, the villages are illuminated by street lights: CM

In an effort to include the common man more directly in the development of the state, Chief Minister on Thursday announced to launch the ‘Uttar Pradesh Matra Bhumi Yojana’ portal on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi (October 2).

“Under the scheme, the government will bear 40 per cent of the total cost of the project (construction of a community building, hospital, school, or common service center, among others) while the remaining 60 per cent will be contributed by the interested people. In return the project will be named after the relatives of the collaborators as per their wish,” said the CM.

The Chief Minister was virtually addressing the opening ceremony of Kisan Mela and Rural Development Exhibition organised by Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya Smriti Mahotsav Samiti in Mathura. Due to poor weather conditions, the Chief Minister had to attend the programme from Lucknow itself.

The CM noted that September 17 was Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, September 25 is Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay’s birthday, and October 2 is Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday. “It is being observed as Seva Pakhwada. This programme is part of the numerous programmes being organised by the government in this regard.”

He added that the availability of free Wi-Fi and high-speed internet will be increased in the villages. “High-speed internet access benefits the economy. Better connectivity will be provided to every Gram Panchayat. In the Panchayat Sachivalays, the villagers will receive 243 different types of services linked to banks, police stations, and tehsils.”

The CM stated that this programme has been running for 50 years in Deendayal Upadhyay’s ‘Dham’, who is the founder of Antyodaya. Whatever efforts have been made in this ‘Dham’ to promote agriculture, rural development, and farmer prosperity have inspired the nation.

“India’s economy is rural-based and because of this, Mahatma Gandhi promoted the ideas of Swadeshi and Gram Swaraj, which place a strong emphasis on self-reliance. Development of rural areas is the only way to envision Gram Swaraj.”

The CM continued by saying that along with rural development, work must continue to boost agriculture to enhance the agricultural economy of India and build the economy of India in accordance with the ambitions and resolutions of the Prime Minister.

“Emphasis was placed on raising production capacity by lowering cultivation costs in the nation within eight and a half years. Numerous initiatives have been launched in the nation to use technology to improve the lives of farmers. Farmers were observed benefiting from the MSP (Minimum Support Price), PM Bima Yojana, and PM Krishi Sinchai Yojana.”

The farmers no longer need to borrow loans from moneylenders. With the help of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, an arrangement has been made to grant the farmer Rs 6,000 every year. The benefit is being received by 2.60 crore farmers in UP. Under PM Krishi Sinchayi Yojana, an additional irrigation facility has been made available in more than 21 lakh hectares of land in UP, he added.

Listing the various efforts of government to benefit the farmers of the state, the CM said, “Over Rs 1.80 lakh crore have been transferred to the accounts of farmers of UP through DBT as sugarcane price. A food processing unit has been established in Braj Bhoomi, close to Kosikala, in cooperation with PepsiCo. Since so many quintals of potatoes are consumed here, the farmers are paid well.”

Double Engine Government working to improve the lives of farmers

The ouble engine government, said CM Yogi, is aiming to improve farmers’ lives. When the “Jan Sangh” and the BJP weren’t in charge, Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya introduced new economics to the nation.

“He had stated that the economic standard of any nation cannot be established by the wealthy individuals, but rather by the condition of the person occupying the lowest position. He gave a new concept of Antyodaya. A resolution was made to provide ‘Har Khet ko paani, har haath ko kaam’.”

BJP governments are carrying out Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay’s vision

He said: “The goal of Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay is being realised by the BJP governments in the state and at the Central level. Through the PM Awas Yojana, BJP governments are giving every impoverished person a roof. The toilet represents women’s dignity and hygiene. Another initiative to further Pt. Upadhyay’s resolutions is the Har Ghar Nal Yojana, which aims to provide clean drinking water to every home.”
