Dainik India news,Lucknow, January 28, 2025: To mark the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of CSIR-Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (CSIR-IITR), Dr Jitendra Singh, Hon’ble Union Minister for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences and Vice President of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi, visited the institute. His visit underscored the pivotal role of CSIR-IITR in advancing research and innovation for nation-building.
Dr Singh inaugurated several state-of-the-art facilities at the institute, including the NaMo-ATAL: Central Analytical Research Hub, VV Sansa: Referral Material Facility, and the BioNEST operation hub. Adding to the significance of the occasion, he unveiled a commemorative stamp on CSIR-IITR, released the institute’s Annual Report, and launched the inaugural volume of Vish-Vigyan Sandesh Sankalan, a compilation of Hindi articles published since 1995.
During the event, CSIR-IITR transferred the VVSansa (Certified Reference Material) technology to Gurugram-based FARE Labs Private Limited. Additionally, the institute received a Letter of Interest (LoI) from Coimbatore-based Conway Water Purifier Private Limited for the Oneer: Water Disinfection Device.
Marking yet another milestone, CSIR-IITR introduced two groundbreaking products ready for commercial deployment:
- Senze Scan – An advanced diagnostic tool.
- Aapatkaleen Aahar – A novel emergency nutrition solution.
Dr Singh also inaugurated a cutting-edge technology exhibition and announced two forthcoming conferences: the WARMEST Conference (scheduled for March 2025) and the EARTH25 Conference (scheduled for November 2025).
In his address, Dr Singh lauded the institute’s six decades of contributions to research and development. He highlighted the necessity of addressing pressing societal challenges, particularly those related to environmental and public health concerns. He emphasized that institutions like CSIR-IITR play a crucial role in realizing the vision of an Atmanirbhar (self-reliant) and Saksham Bharat (empowered India) envisioned by the Hon’ble Prime Minister. “A Viksit Bharat is possible only in a Swasth Bharat, and institutes like CSIR-IITR are indispensable in achieving this goal,” he remarked.
Dr Bhaskar Narayan, Director, CSIR-IITR, extended heartfelt gratitude to all stakeholders for entrusting the institute with immense responsibility. He assured unwavering commitment from Team-IITR towards fulfilling societal aspirations. Dr Narayan expressed special appreciation to Dr Singh for gracing the event, emphasizing that the Diamond Jubilee is not only a moment to reflect on the illustrious past but also an opportunity to strategize for the institute’s future endeavors.
The event witnessed the presence of esteemed directors from Lucknow-based CSIR sister laboratories, including Dr Radha Rangarajan (CSIR-CDRI), Dr Ajit Shashney (CSIR-NBRI), and Dr Prabodh Trivedi (CSIR-CIMAP).
The celebrations not only paid tribute to the institute’s glorious legacy but also reaffirmed its commitment to spearheading research and innovation for a healthier and stronger India.
